RULES AND REGULATIONS
TALENT SHOWCASE OPPORTUNITY (NO FEES TO APPLY AND PARTICIPATE)
Participants are expected to perform each month during the monthly showcases. One-hour rehearsals are required prior to each monthly showcase. Youth who participate in four (4) consecutive showcases are eligible for the $ 500 scholastic awards presented at the FINALE scheduled Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Grand Ave Neighborhood Center, 800 Grand Street, Orlando, Florida 32805.
TALENT SHOWCASE AND WORKSHOP DETAILS
All events are held on Saturdays along with MENTOR Teen Talk Workshops; Mentoring workshop attendance is mandatory. These showcases are not a competition; SPACES ARE LIMITED on a first-come, first serve basis. After the showcase season concludes, finalists are expected to perform, when available, at activities designated by SYWYNIL organization during the remainder of the year 2025. SYWYNIL is not responsible for repairing and/or replacing any items received via scholastic awards.
TALENT PERFORMANCE POLICY
*Lyrics must not contain the “N-word” or any profanity.
*Lyrics must not make any reference to violence including guns, killing, suicide, and fighting.
*Lyrics must not make any references to degrading of females and gang influences.
* Performance time is 3 minutes MAX; DISQUALIFIED if performance exceeds time limit.
DRESS CODE
* Pants must be worn at the waist
* No tears, rips, or holes in clothing
* Bare midriffs and sides may not show
* Clothing that is too tight or revealing is prohibited
* Hemlines of shorts, dresses and skirts shall be no shorter than mid-thigh
* Shoulders must be covered at all times
* No hats, sunglasses, bandanas, or pajama wear
CELL PHONE POLICY
All electronic devices (cell phones, iPods, tablets, headphones, earbuds, etc.) must be turned off and/or set on vibration to avoid interference during workshops and performances.
TALENT SHOWCASE SECURITY POLICY
So You Want Your Name in Lights (SYWYNIL) Youth Mentoring Program is NOT responsible for any lost, misplaced, or stolen items at any time. NO WEAPONS PERMITTED OR ALLOWED.
